Raymone Ramone Clements, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Ohio 2012

CLEVELAND, OHIO – A former convict named Raymone ‘Ramone’ Clements, 42, from Cleveland, Ohio, has been slammed with serious charges for being a felon in possession of ammunition, according to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Clements, who already carries convictions for rape (2006), drug trafficking (2003), and aggravated robbery (1991) from the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, was caught with one round of .357-caliber ammunition and two rounds of .22-caliber ammunition on December 20, 2012.

‘This office places a high priority on keeping firearms and ammunition out of the hands of those who are forbidden by law from obtaining them,’ Dettelbach emphasized. ‘We will aggressively pursue those who would violate our nation’s firearms laws, be it a person using a gun to commit a violent crime, a felon illegally obtaining ammunition, or a straw purchaser trying to circumvent the law.’

The ATF Special Agent in Charge Robin Shoemaker, Columbus Field Division, echoed this sentiment: ‘We will continue to work side by side with our federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners to make sure those individuals who illegally possess firearms and/or ammunition are held accountable for their actions.’

With 176 indictments for violations of federal firearms laws filed in the Northern District of Ohio last year, the office’s commitment is clear. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly L. Galvin is now prosecuting this case, which follows an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Cleveland Heights Police Department.

For those with information on Clements’ whereabouts, call 1-800-ATF-GUNS or the Cleveland Heights Police Department at 1-216-321-1234. Remember, an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The charge against Clements carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. His sentence will be determined by the court after review of all factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal records, role in the offenses, and the characteristics of the violation.
