Raymone Ramone Clements, Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, Ohio 2023

Cleveland’s Raymone ‘Ramone’ Clements, a 42-year-old repeat offender, was found guilty by a jury in the Northern District of Ohio for being a felon in possession of both a firearm and ammunition. United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach announced the conviction following a trial that revealed Clements’ possession of one .357-caliber round and two .22-caliber rounds of ammunition, as well as a Rossi, Model Garrucha, .22-caliber Derringer pistol.

Clements had previously faced convictions for rape in 2006, drug trafficking in 2003, and aggravated robbery in 1991, all in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. The jury’s decision was reached after a thorough investigation that included evidence linking Clements to a dog shooting incident in Cleveland Heights, which led to his arrest.

Dettelbach emphasized the importance of keeping firearms out of the hands of felons such as Clements, stating, ‘This case demonstrates why rapists and other felons are forbidden from having firearms.’ He pledged an aggressive stance against those who violate federal firearms laws, emphasizing collaboration with law enforcement partners. ATF Special Agent in Charge Robin Shoemaker echoed these sentiments, underscoring the commitment to hold individuals accountable for illegal gun and ammunition possession.

During the trial, witnesses recounted Clements’ shooting of a dog in a public park in Cleveland Heights, which prompted the search of his residences where the firearm and ammunition were found. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kelly L. Galvin and Margaret Sweeney are handling the prosecution, with the investigation led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Cleveland Heights Police Department.

Sentencing has been scheduled for June 13 before U.S. District Judge Donald Nugent. The conviction sends a strong message about the consequences of illegal gun possession in Ohio’s Cuyahoga County.
