Ocala gang member Clinton Darnelle Kaham, 24, has been sentenced to 20 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
On July 6, 2022, officers from the Ocala Police Department discovered Kaham in possession of a loaded firearm. The firearm had previously been reported stolen in Marion County. A subsequent FBI forensic analysis found very strong support that Kaham was the source of the DNA profile developed from the trigger, grip, frame, and trigger guard of the firearm.
At the time he possessed the firearm, Kaham was a convicted felon for possession of heroin in 2021. As a convicted felon, Kaham is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition under federal law.
Sr. United States District Judge John Antoon II handed down the sentence after Kaham pleaded guilty in February 2024.
This case was investigated by the Ocala Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
Kaham’s sentence is a result of his involvement in the violent crime reduction strategy, which strengthens PSN based on core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.
