In a recent crackdown on firearm-related crimes, Clyde Edward Pasterski, Jr. has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison. The 42-year-old Juneau resident was found guilty of illegally possessing 13 firearms, one of which was stolen, along with eight seal bombs.

According to court documents, Pasterski’s residence was searched by the Juneau Police Department in May 2020, yielding the illicit items. Furthermore, a ballistic vest carrier with steel plate inserts and over two grams of methamphetamine and four grams of heroin were discovered.

Pasterski’s history of felony convictions by the State of Alaska rendered him ineligible to possess firearms. The defendant resisted and fought against JPD officers at his home and during his interview, and even attempted to grab an officer’s gun.

U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker emphasized the dangers of combining illicit drugs and guns, especially when those guns are possessed by a convicted felon. ATF Seattle Field Division Special Agent in Charge Jonathan T. McPherson concurred, stating that Pasterski’s actions demonstrate how perilous he is to the community.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Juneau Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Schmidt leading the prosecution. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an evidence-based program aiming to reduce violent crime.

Pasterski’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violating firearm laws. His case highlights the importance of community collaboration in identifying and addressing violent crime issues.
