Ian Dyer, a 26-year-old Texas man, pleaded guilty to his role in a cross-country narcotics conspiracy that funneled cocaine from Mexico to Buffalo, NY, and other US cities. Between April 2023 and February 2025, Dyer conspired with others to sell massive quantities of cocaine, acting as a drug courier and bulk currency receiver. He made numerous trips to Buffalo with bulk cocaine and returned to Texas with large sums of US currency.
The investigation led to several seizures, including 18.93 kilograms of cocaine in Ohio on April 8, 2023, $100,000 in US currency in Tennessee on December 12, 2023, and 9.3 kilograms of cocaine and 3,528 grams of pure methamphetamine in New York on May 7, 2024. Dyer was arrested in April 2025, along with six other defendants, and is the third to be convicted.
Dyer’s guilty plea carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a fine of $10,000,000. His case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to protecting the American people against invasion.
The HSTF initiative, established by Executive Order 14159, aims to disrupt and dismantle transnational criminal organizations like the one Dyer was involved with. The investigation and prosecution of Dyer’s case demonstrate the effectiveness of this initiative in combating cross-country narcotics trafficking.
