Cocaine Trafficker Admits Guilt
A 26-year-old Strasburg man has pleaded guilty to a serious drug crime in a West Virginia court.
Terry William Jimenez Morales admitted to one count of "Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Hydrochloride" in a recent court hearing.
According to prosecutors, Morales was found with more than 85 grams of cocaine hydrochloride in March 2019 in Jefferson County, West Virginia.
Morales faces a severe sentence of up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence will be determined by the seriousness of the offense and Morales’ prior criminal history, if any.
The investigation was led by the Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Ranson Police Department.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble presided over the court proceedings, during which Morales pleaded guilty.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
Morales will be sentenced at a later date.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
