Maurice Collier, Cocaine Distribution, Pennsylvania 2020

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Maurice Collier, a 33-year-old resident of New Castle, Pennsylvania, has been handed a harsh dose of justice after being sentenced to 97 months in federal prison for his role in a notorious cocaine trafficking ring.

United States Senior District Judge David Stewart Cercone imposed the sentence on Collier, ordering him to serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence. Collier’s lengthy prison term stems from a string of serious charges, including distributing cocaine base on September 17, 2020, and possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and cocaine base, as well as a firearm in furtherance of that drug trafficking crime, on November 4, 2020.

According to court documents, between September and November 2020, the Lawrence County Drug Task Force made four controlled purchases of cocaine and heroin directly from Collier. The investigation culminated in a search warrant being served at Collier’s New Castle residence on November 4, 2020, where authorities discovered a loaded and stolen pistol, $5,034 in drug trafficking proceeds, and quantities of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

Collier’s reckless disregard for the law didn’t stop there. At the time of his arrest, he was out on bond with a pending drug trafficking charge in Pennsylvania state court. Adding insult to injury, Collier had previously been convicted in New Jersey state court of committing cocaine trafficking and gun crimes, earning him a six-year sentence in the slammer.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller led the prosecution against Collier, securing a major victory for the government. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the Lawrence County Drug Task Force, New Castle Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their tireless efforts in bringing Collier to justice.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in our communities.
