Methamphetamine Conspiracy Lands Golconda Man 16 Years in Prison
A Pope County man has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison on methamphetamine-related charges, according to the office of Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.
Colt V. Lynn, 30, of Golconda, Illinois, was convicted on June 23, 2015 following a two-day jury trial on a two-count indictment alleging he conspired with others to manufacture methamphetamine.
The charges against Lynn included conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine from January 11, 2013 until January 15, 2013 in Pope, Union, and Saline Counties, and knowingly and intentionally possessing pseudoephedrine pills knowing they would be used to manufacture methamphetamine during the same time period.
The investigation into Lynn’s activities was conducted by the Pope County Sheriff’s Department, the Pope County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Pope County Probation Office, the Golconda Police Department, the Massac County Sheriff’s Department, and the Illinois State Police.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas E. Leggans.
Lynn’s sentencing brings an end to a lengthy investigation into methamphetamine manufacturing in southern Illinois, and serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of involvement in such activities.
As the Southern District of Illinois continues to combat the scourge of methamphetamine, this case demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies to holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
