Columbus Gang Members Plead Guilty to Murder

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Columbus men have pleaded guilty to their roles in a violent gang, the Short North Posse.

Allen L. Wright, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of murder in aid of racketeering, punishable by up to life in prison or the death penalty. Wright’s pleas come after a two-year investigation by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Tysin L. Gordon, 30, and Freddie K. Johnson, 29, each pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The three men were charged in a superseding indictment in October 2014, along with 17 other individuals, on charges including murders, attempted murders, drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, extortion, and robbery.

U.S. Attorney Carter M. Stewart commended the investigation, which involved the FBI, DEA, ATF, Columbus Police, and several other law enforcement agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorneys David DeVillers, Kevin Kelley, and Brian Martinez, along with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jimmy Lowe, are prosecuting the case.

The guilty pleas are a significant blow to the Short North Posse, a violent gang that has terrorized the Columbus community for years. The gang’s activities have included murder, extortion, and drug trafficking, and its members have been linked to numerous violent crimes.

The investigation and prosecution of the Short North Posse are a testament to the commitment of law enforcement agencies to keeping our communities safe from violent crime.
