Orlando, Florida – The grimy streets of Orlando have once again become the scene of a high-stakes crime. United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe has announced that Latchman Singh (31), a man with a lengthy criminal history, has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In a turn of events that sent shivers down the spines of law enforcement and residents alike, court documents reveal that Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies were executing a search warrant at Singh’s residence for state auto theft charges. During their investigation, they discovered a disturbing cache: 17 firearms stored in various locations within the home – the living room closet, bedroom, and kitchen.
This was no ordinary cache. Court records show that at least two of the firearms were stolen, one firearm lacked a serial number, and shockingly, one weapon had a silencer attached. As a previously convicted felon, Singh is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law, making his actions all the more dangerous.
But this wasn’t just any ordinary day in court for Singh. He now faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison at his sentencing hearing scheduled for September 25, 2025. The grimy details of his case have been laid bare, with Singh agreeing to forfeit all the firearms and ammunition involved in the offense.
This harrowing tale was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Dana E. Hill is prosecuting this case with vigor. This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) to reduce violent crime and gun violence across the nation, aiming to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
The Department of Justice launched a strategic violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, strengthening PSN based on core principles such as fostering trust in communities, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes. Singh’s case is yet another reminder of the ongoing battle against gun violence and its devastating consequences.
