TEXARKANA, AR – A’jene Rashodd Cornelius, 29, of Texarkana, Arkansas, will spend over ten years in federal prison after being sentenced today for flooding the streets with methamphetamine. Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey delivered the sentence – 121 months incarceration, followed by five years of supervised release – in U.S. District Court.
The bust went down November 9, 2021, when a joint task force comprised of the FBI, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, Bi-State Narcotics Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations raided Cornelius’s residence. The search wasn’t pretty. Investigators found more than 1.3 pounds of pure methamphetamine, enough to poison a whole town. And it wasn’t just drugs.
Cornelius wasn’t operating a lemonade stand. Multiple loaded firearms were recovered from the scene, along with over $13,000 in cash – dirty money earned from pushing poison. Disturbingly, Cornelius and two family members, including a small child, were present during the execution of the federal search warrant, exposing them to a dangerous situation and the grim realities of his criminal enterprise.
Cornelius initially fought the charges, but ultimately pleaded guilty in August 2023, likely realizing the overwhelming evidence stacked against him. The feds weren’t messing around. This wasn’t some small-time operation; the quantity of meth seized indicates Cornelius was a significant player in the regional drug trade.
“This sentence sends a clear message,” stated U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes. While the statement feels like boilerplate, the facts speak for themselves. Cornelius’s actions brought danger and addiction to the Texarkana area, and now he’s paying the price. The investigation was a coordinated effort, showcasing the effectiveness of multi-agency collaboration in tackling serious crime.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Graham Jones skillfully prosecuted the case, securing a substantial sentence for Cornelius. Court documents related to this case are publicly available on the Public Access to Electronic Records website at www.pacer.gov. This case serves as a stark reminder that dealing drugs comes with severe consequences, and the Grimy Times will continue to report on the individuals profiting from misery.
