Tallahassee, FL – A decade of hard time awaits Lorenzo Heatrice after the 70-year-old Marianna man was sentenced to 10 years for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in Florida’s Jackson County.
Heatrice, a key figure in a drug ring, was caught selling ounces of meth from June 2023 through early 2024. Evidence showed he personally distributed at least 850 grams of the illegal substance to other dealers who then resold it.
“Methamphetamine is a scourge that we will continue to aggressively pursue,” said U.S. Attorney John Heekin, commending state and federal law enforcement for their diligence in bringing Heatrice to justice.
DEA Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter highlighted the joint investigation with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, noting that this collaboration removed a significant meth distributor from the streets.
Sheriff Edenfield of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the office’s commitment to pursuing drug traffickers and protecting residents. “This partnership resulted in one less meth distributor poisoning our communities,” Reuter said.
The conviction and sentence were part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations while safeguarding communities from violent crime. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida leads this national effort.
