Corona’s Perry Hicks has been hit with a重磅 sentence for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The 32-year-old from Corona, California, was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Matthew D. Krueger for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Hicks, who was already on pre-trial release for a separate federal drug-trafficking case in the Central District of California, was caught red-handed sending methamphetamine via the U.S. Mail to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, six times. Three of those parcels were intercepted by law enforcement, netting a total of 1,385.9 grams of the highly addictive substance.
Among the intercepted drug-laden parcels were shipments totaling 483.7 grams (net) of 98% pure methamphetamine on August 27, 2018; 441.9 grams (net) of 97% pure methamphetamine on September 5, 2018; and 450.3 grams (net) of 99% pure methamphetamine on September 19, 2018.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman emphasized the gravity of Hicks’s crime in pronouncing sentence. The defendant’s actions, according to the court, were a clear threat to public safety.
The investigation into Hicks was a collaborative effort by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Milwaukee Police Department, and the North Central HIDTA Office. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. Brady, Jr., prosecuted the case.
This sentence sends a strong message to those who think they can evade justice in the illegal drug trade. Hicks’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of drug trafficking activities.
