Stolen Credit Card Scheme Lands Wilkinsburg Man in Prison
A 26-year-old Wilkinsburg man has been sentenced to six months in prison for his role in a stolen credit card scheme.
Richard Gerald Davenport, Jr. was found guilty of conspiracy and will also serve six months of home detention and three years of supervised release.
According to the investigation, Davenport and an accomplice stole credit card numbers, which they used to buy gift cards and merchandise at various stores, including Rite-Aid.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the United States Secret Service for their investigation, which led to Davenport’s successful prosecution.
Davenport was taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Service to begin serving his sentence immediately.
This case is a stark reminder of the dangers of credit card theft and the consequences that thieves can face.
