On the streets of Long Island and Brooklyn, a brutal gang war raged, fueled by greed, power, and a thirst for blood. After an 11-week trial, a federal jury in Central Islip delivered a devastating verdict: Akeem Chambers, aka ‘Luca,’ Jonathan Vazquez, aka ‘Chulo’ and ‘Clutch,’ and Jerell Shaw, aka ‘Rells’ and ‘Rells Fargo,’ were found guilty of 52 counts, including racketeering, murder, attempted murder, and robbery.
The indictment painted a chilling picture of a gang that preyed on its own community, stealing from government programs meant to help those in need, and laundering their ill-gotten gains. The defendants’ co-conspirators used force and violence against rivals, terrorizing neighborhoods and enriching themselves through the proceeds of their crimes.
