Akron Man Charged with Methamphetamine Possession and Firearms

Curtis Earl Tucker, Jr., aka Reginald T. Shannon, 36, has been indicted on federal drug and firearms charges in the Northern District of Ohio. According to the indictment, Tucker possessed with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine on March 9, 2017.

Tucker is accused of possessing four firearms, including a Smith & Wesson SDVE, 9mm pistol, a Colt Trooper MK3, .357 magnum revolver, a Ruger, model P95, 9 mm pistol, and a Armi Tan Foglio .25 caliber pistol, and ammunition, despite a prior federal conviction for distribution of crack cocaine.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Akron Police Department, Narcotics Unit. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David M. Toepfer.

Under federal law, the sentence will be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including Tucker’s prior criminal record, if any, Tucker’s role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violations. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and, in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
