Huntington Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Child Pornography

A Huntington man was sentenced to 8 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release for receipt of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia announced.

Curtis Ray Pelfrey, 36, of Huntington, West Virginia, was sentenced by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers.

According to court documents, Pelfrey admitted to using the online file-sharing program eDonkey from November 2018 to December 2019 to download and share videos and images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Pelfrey also admitted to receiving videos containing child pornography on October 7, 2019, and admitted to possessing 24 videos and 5 images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Several of the images and videos have been identified as depicting known children, and Pelfrey admitted to engaging in this activity since 2014.

United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the West Virginia State Police in bringing this case to justice.

This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
