A devastating case of failure to register as a sex offender has rocked the quiet streets of Omaha, Nebraska. Dale Patrick Grant, a 37-year-old man originally from Sioux City, Iowa, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for his egregious crime.

Grant was convicted in 2020 in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska of sexual abuse of a minor. He was handed a 48-month sentence, which he served. However, as a convicted sex offender, Grant was required to register and update his residential address to reflect any changes.

But Grant failed to uphold his duty to register, beginning in late June 2025. He had left his registered residence in Omaha, but refused to update his address. His failure to comply was a brazen disregard for the law and a slap in the face to his victims.

Grant was eventually tracked down by law enforcement in August 2025 in Grand Island and taken into custody. The United States Marshals Service investigated the case, bringing Grant to justice.

The sentence handed down by Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., is a stern reminder that failure to register as a sex offender will not be tolerated. Grant will spend 21 months in prison, with no parole available in the federal system.
