A former Dallas cop is heading to the slammer after selling off stolen service guns to a pawn shop in Oklahoma in 2022.
Thomas Fry, 53, a former sergeant with the Dallas Police Department, got 28 months in federal prison for his crimes, which include three separate instances of taking a firearm owned by the department and selling it to the pawn shop in June and July 2022.
Fry’s betrayal of the public’s trust is a stark reminder that even those in power aren’t above the law, officials said.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould called Fry’s actions a ‘blow to public trust,’ while ATF’s Brian Garner said the sentence sends a clear message: ‘no one is above the law.’
