BOSTON – A shocking crime has shaken the streets of Massachusetts as a Stoughton man faces the consequences of his actions. Dashawn Matthews, a 31-year-old resident of Stoughton, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Matthews pleaded guilty on December 14, 2020, to distribution and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine.

According to investigators, Matthews was involved in a large-scale drug trafficking operation in the Orchard Gardens housing development in Roxbury. A cooperating witness and an undercover police officer made eight purchases of fentanyl, crack cocaine, or both from Matthews between May and August 2019.

The investigation revealed that Matthews distributed approximately 120 grams of fentanyl and 98 grams of crack cocaine during this period. Most of the sales took place in close proximity to the Orchard Gardens housing development.

Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell, James Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Boston Police Acting Commissioner Gregory Long announced the sentencing today.
