Spokane, Washington – In a landmark ruling, Chief United States District Judge Stanley A. Bastian has sentenced Jacenir DaSilva of Moses Lake, Washington, to 120 months in federal prison for his pivotal role as the leader of the Norteño gang set Pancho Villa Loco within the notorious La Nuestra Familia (NF) organization.
DaSilva, known by the gang name “Serio,” was responsible for disseminating NF’s radical teachings and enforcing adherence to the gang’s strict “14 Bonds.” As the Grant County “channel” for NF, he had oversight of all Norteño sets within his region, ensuring the continuation of the criminal enterprise through activities such as money laundering, hosting meetings, and conducting internal investigations.
Evidence presented at the sentencing hearing revealed DaSilva’s direct involvement in directing gang activities, including the issuance of a “kill on sight” order against an individual targeted by NF. This sentence comes amidst a broader crackdown on the gang’s efforts to infiltrate Washington State with its hardcore principles and teachings.
In addition to DaSilva, Jesus Mirelez of Yakima, Washington, was sentenced to 83 months for gun charges, and Thomas Lee Weatherwax of Spokane received 75 months for money laundering and drug conspiracy charges. Weatherwax’s sentence will follow completion of his current state prison term for Assault in the First Degree with a Deadly Weapon.
Assistant United States Attorney Caitlin Baunsgard highlighted the gang’s predatory tactics, stating that NF deliberately targets minors for recruitment and indoctrination into its criminal lifestyle. Baunsgard emphasized the U.S. Attorney’s Office commitment to eradicating such predators from our communities, affirming a tireless effort in investigation and prosecution of these criminals.
The sentences handed down today are a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against organized crime and the relentless pursuit of justice for those victimized by gangs like La Nuestra Familia.
