Daunte Taylor, Possessing a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking, Mississippi 2024

A Gulfport man has faced justice for his involvement in a serious crime. Daunte Taylor, 21, pled guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to court documents, Taylor was found in possession of two firearms and over 100 grams of methamphetamine at his residence in Gulfport.

This discovery is a significant blow to drug traffickers in the area. The authorities are working diligently to rid the community of these illicit substances and the individuals who distribute them.

Taylor is scheduled to be sentenced on November 8, 2024. He faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of life in prison. A federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw of the Drug Enforcement Administration made the announcement.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Gulfport Police Department are investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Smith is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
