Michael Boyd Damgaard, Producing Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2020

HARRISBURG – A chilling sentence of 29 years’ imprisonment was meted out to Michael Boyd Damgaard, a 37-year-old from Dauphin, Pennsylvania, following his conviction for producing child pornography. United States District Judge Keli M. Neary also sentenced Damgaard to an additional 15 years of supervised release.

According to the Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Damgaard’s criminal activities began between April and June 2020 when he contacted two underage girls, aged 14 and 15, online. He engaged in illegal sexual activity with them after determining their ages, and then created videos and digital images of his despicable acts. Damgaard also coerced the victims into sending him explicit images via online messaging platforms.

On September 25, 2024, Damgaard pleaded guilty to producing child pornography as part of a plea agreement that admitted all offenses charged in the federal indictment. These included producing, receiving, and possessing child pornography, as well as coercing and enticing minors to engage in illegal sexual activity.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation into Damgaard’s crimes. Assistant United States Attorney Christian T. Haugsby was responsible for prosecuting the case.

This case is a part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project mobilizes federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
