Troubled Waters for Local Man: 15-Year Prison Sentence for Child Pornography Production

David Gfeller, a 35-year-old resident of Palmyra, New York, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence for producing child pornography. This disturbing crime has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to wonder how such atrocities can occur in our own backyard.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi, Homeland Security Investigations in Buffalo received information from an international law enforcement network on February 12, 2019, indicating that child pornography, potentially originating in Western New York, had been recovered by authorities in various countries. The child pornography depicted a prepubescent minor.

With the assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Homeland Security Investigation Special Agents used data associated with the images to locate the residence at which the images had been produced. The victim was located, and on March 1, 2019, investigators executed a search warrant at Gfeller’s residence, arresting him for producing the child pornography.

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the sentencing, which is the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly, with assistance from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the New York State Police.
