David Montgomery, 44, Sentenced to 32 Years in Prison for Child Pornography Offenses

Erie, Pa. – A former resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court to 32 years in prison and lifetime supervised release on his conviction of violating federal laws related to the sexual exploitation of children, announced United States Attorney David J. Hickton today.

United States District Judge Cercone imposed the sentence on David Montgomery, 44, after information presented to the court revealed disturbing details about Montgomery’s crimes. While employed as a teacher at Collegiate Academy in Erie, Pennsylvania, Montgomery made numerous videos and images that depicted him engaged in sex acts with a minor male.

The abuse continued for six years, beginning when the boy was approximately eight and concluding when the boy was approximately fourteen. Montgomery gained access to the boy by paying for his travel to Erie from the victim’s residence outside of Pennsylvania. The two also traveled together outside Pennsylvania on several occasions.

Montgomery’s crimes did not stop there. He also took sexually explicit photos of the boy. Additionally, Montgomery took sexually explicit photos of another minor male who was approximately eight when the photos were taken. Moreover, Montgomery possessed numerous items of other child pornography.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Erie County Detectives Bureau, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Erie Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Montgomery.

The sentence handed down to Montgomery serves as a reminder that those who prey on the most vulnerable members of our society will be held accountable. This case demonstrates the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the prosecution of those who commit heinous crimes.
