GRIMY NEWS UPDATE: The United States Attorney Kurt Wall has come forward to support the upcoming DEA Annual Prescription Drug Take Back Day, set for October 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This bi-annual event is designed to offer a safe and responsible method for the disposal of prescription drugs, while also raising awareness about the dangers of medication abuse.
Wall emphasizes that this service is provided free of charge and remains anonymous; no questions will be asked. The DEA, in collaboration with its partners, will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription medications. However, liquids, syringes, sharps, and illegal drugs are not accepted.
For those looking to dispose of vaping devices and cartridges, they can do so if the lithium batteries are removed first. It’s important to note that this initiative is just one part of a larger effort; prescription drugs can be disposed of at any of the 11,000 authorized collectors year-round.
For detailed information on participating locations and how to dispose of medications safely, the public is directed to visit www.dea.gov/takebackday.
