⏱ 2 min read

A Dallas drug dealer’s lucrative operation came to a crushing end when he was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. Dauerashawn Carr, 49, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine in the Eastern District of Texas. The sentence stems from a 2022 overdose death in Irving, where the victim had purchased drugs from an individual working directly for Carr.

On June 26, 2022, an unresponsive individual was dropped off at an Irving hospital and ultimately died from the toxic effects of a drug overdose. An investigation revealed that Carr was using at least four separate rooms at a Dallas hotel as his residence and personal stash house, storing, packaging, and selling a multitude of illegal and counterfeit drugs.

According to drug ledgers found in the hotel rooms, Carr’s operation distributed a wide range of substances, including Adderall, Blue M-30, Cocaine, Ketamine, LSD, MDMA, Marijuana, Mushrooms, and Xanax. U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs emphasized that the sentence sends a strong message to those who choose to profit from distributing deadly substances, promising to pursue them relentlessly and hold them fully accountable.

Carr’s sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan on August 6, 2026. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a crackdown on illicit drug distribution. The sentence serves as a warning to those involved in the drug trade, highlighting the devastating impact of illicit drugs on individuals, families, and communities.
