A high-speed chase through the streets of Conway, Arkansas, ended with a major methamphetamine bust and a 20-year prison sentence for Little Rock resident Tommy Avance, 41. Avance was caught with over 1,400 grams of methamphetamine at his residence, a stash that would’ve been worth hundreds of thousands of dollars on the street.

The chase began on March 26, 2024, when the Conway Police Department spotted Avance’s vehicle arriving at the home of a known drug distributor. After observing suspicious activity, officers tailed Avance’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, they smelled marijuana and noticed Avance acting nervously, prompting a high-speed pursuit.

Avance led officers on a wild goose chase, eventually being stopped with spike strips. Once in custody, a search of his person turned up two bags of cocaine and one bag of methamphetamine. In a post-Miranda interview, Avance admitted to buying large quantities of both drugs.

As it turned out, Avance was on active parole with a search waiver on file, which allowed officers to search his residence. Inside, they found the massive methamphetamine stash, which sealed Avance’s fate. On October 28, 2025, Avance pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and on April 29, 2026, US District Judge Lee P. Rudofsky handed down the 20-year sentence.
