Denzel Holloway, Meth Smuggling, Texas 2019

A brazen attempt to smuggle over 53 kilograms of meth into the US was foiled at the Juarez–Lincoln Port of Entry in Laredo, Texas.

The drugs, estimated to be worth around $300,000 on the street, were hidden in hidden compartments within the truck’s tires.

The vehicle was inspected on November 28, 2019 and authorities noticed anomalies in the tires.

A total of 24 bundles containing 53.4 kilograms of meth were discovered, leading to the arrest of two Houston men.

Denzel Holloway, 29, and Joshua Guerra, 27, both pleaded guilty to their involvement in the meth smuggling conspiracy on June 9, 2020.

Holloway was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Guerra had previously been sentenced to a 96-month term of imprisonment.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with the assistance of Customs and Border Protection. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Fawcett prosecuted the case.

Holloway will remain on bond and voluntarily surrender to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility at a later date.
