Jason Aymar Ramos, a 43-year-old Dominican national, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation. Ramos, who was residing in Lawrence, MA, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien in April 2026. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Ramos was initially deported to the Dominican Republic on April 5, 2012, but he later reentered the US without permission. Between 2015 and 2024, he was convicted in four separate state court drug cases in Lawrence, using an alias. His prior convictions ultimately led to his arrest and indictment by a federal grand jury in 2018.
Ramos’s case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of the Major Crimes Unit. The announcement of his sentencing was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, along with David T. Wesling, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, and Lawrence Police Chief Maurice Aguiler.
Ramos will serve his 18-month prison term, followed by three years of supervised release. He is also subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence, which he has been serving since October 2025.
