Julio Zamudio-Ramirez, a 33-year-old Mexican national, has been charged with unlawfully returning to the United States after being previously deported. The incident occurred in August 2025, when Zamudio-Ramirez was in the Gregg County jail for abandoning or endangering a child. It was discovered that he was in the US illegally, despite being deported to Mexico on June 6, 2020, following a conviction for delivery of a controlled substance in Gregg County in 2016.
Zamudio-Ramirez has a history of felony convictions, including a 2013 burglary of a vehicle charge in Gregg County. If convicted of illegal reentry, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison and deportation.
