Torriano Arzareus Johnson, a 34-year-old Detroit man, was busted in Huntington, West Virginia, on March 11, 2026, with 29 grams of crack and a loaded Glock 43x 9mm pistol. Johnson was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over by law enforcement, and he fled with a backpack, which was later found to contain the gun. He was caught and found with the crack in his pant leg and $3,000 in cash from selling drugs. Johnson admitted to possessing the firearm to protect himself, the drugs, and the cash.
Johnson pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for the crack distribution charge and a mandatory minimum of five years and up to life in prison for the firearms charge.
The case was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department. United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the guilty plea, and Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor is prosecuting the case.
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13, 2026. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating transnational criminal organizations and protecting communities from violent crime.
