Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon Lands Devonte T. Franklin Behind Bars

During the stop, officers asked all passengers, including Franklin, if they had any guns in the vehicle. Franklin, who was seated in the back seat behind the driver, failed to respond.

Following the traffic stop, a search of Franklin’s person revealed the Tec-22 semi-automatic pistol in his front waistband. This discovery led to charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon being filed against Franklin.

The investigation into Franklin’s activities was conducted by the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois (MEGSI) and was handled in federal district court. Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan Drucker prosecuted the case.
