A former Oklahoma prisoner transport officer has pleaded guilty to sex assault and kidnapping a male detainee.
Dewayne Dudley, 56, entered a guilty plea in federal court in the Northern District of Oklahoma to violating a male detainee’s civil rights by sexually assaulting and kidnapping him. The crime occurred on August 26-27, 2021.
According to the plea agreement, Dudley worked as a prisoner transport officer for Blue Raven Services. On August 26, 2021, he picked up the victim from a jail in Boonville, Indiana, to transport him to Valencia, New Mexico. However, Dudley stopped the transport van at a Holiday Inn Express in Marshfield, Missouri, where he rented a room and committed the sex assault and kidnapping.
The victim was handcuffed and brought into the hotel room where Dudley told him to undress and proceeded to grope his genitals. The victim was later brought to Dudley’s apartment in Claremore, Oklahoma, where the sex assault continued. The victim managed to break free and run outside before escaping.
Dudley faces 12 to 15 years in federal prison, to be followed by up to five years of supervised release. He must also pay restitution to the victim.
The case was investigated by the Oklahoma City FBI Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Clay Compton of the Northern District of Oklahoma and Trial Attorney Laura Gilson of the Civil Rights Division’s Criminal Section prosecuted the case.
The Justice Department will continue to investigate and prosecute law enforcement officials who abuse their power and authority, said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.
