Kyle Scott, Fentanyl Trafficking, Delaware 2024

⏱ 2 min read

Kyle Scott, a 38-year-old Dover man, has been sentenced to 147 months in prison for dealing fentanyl and methamphetamine, and possessing firearms to further his drug trafficking operation. Scott, who was released from state prison in 2021 after a prior drug conviction, was caught by law enforcement in 2024 with 307 grams of fentanyl and 757 grams of methamphetamine in his basement bedroom. The investigation began when law enforcement received information that Scott was again dealing drugs, just two years after his release from prison.

Law enforcement executed a warrant to search Scott’s home, where they found the large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as three loaded firearms. Scott ultimately pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 40 grams or more of Fentanyl and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking. This is Scott’s fourth conviction for drug dealing.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Delaware State Police, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Thurstlic-O’Neill. U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Hall imposed the sentence, which U.S. Attorney Benjamin L. Wallace called ‘a just sentence’ for an ‘armed, career drug dealer’.

The DEA and Delaware State Police hailed the sentence as a victory in the fight against drug trafficking. ‘Fentanyl kills,’ said U.S. Attorney Wallace. ‘But Kyle Scott did not let that stop him from peddling the deadly substance to people in the throes of addiction.’ The sentence sends a powerful message that justice will prevail against those who threaten communities, said DEA Philadelphia Field Division Special Agent in Charge Thomas Hodnett.
