Christian Bowles, Heroin Distribution, West Virginia 2015

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — In a resounding blow to the drug trade in West Virginia, Christian Bowles, a 25-year-old from Dunbar, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for his role in heroin distribution.

Bowles was caught red-handed by law enforcement on March 24, 2015. The dealer admitted selling over four grams of the deadly substance to an informant for $1,000 outside his residence. His greed led him to distribute up to 20 grams of heroin, putting countless lives at risk.

United States Attorney Carol Casto announced the sentence, which was handed down by United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr. Bowles’ arrest and conviction are part of an ongoing federal effort to tackle the prescription drug and heroin epidemic sweeping through Southern West Virginia.

The investigation into Bowles was spearheaded by the Charleston Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit. Assistant United States Attorney John J. Frail led the prosecution against the drug dealer.

As part of this initiative, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia collaborates with federal, state, and local law enforcement to dismantle illegal pill trafficking rings, eliminate open-air drug markets, and curtail the spread of opiate painkillers and heroin in the region’s communities.

This relentless pursuit of drug dealers like Bowles demonstrates a united front against the illicit drug trade, ensuring justice is served and neighborhoods are safer.
