Dunkirk Man Gets 120 Years for Child Porn
A 52-year-old man from Dunkirk, New York, has pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing child pornography, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 120 years in prison.
Talbert Milton Mount, 52, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara in Buffalo on Wednesday. The charges against him were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Back in June 2012, a search warrant was executed at Mount’s residence, and authorities found approximately 975 videos and over 12,770 images of child pornography on various computers and hard drives belonging to him. The images included depictions of infants and toddlers.
According to the investigation, Mount obtained and traded videos and images of child pornography over the internet. He was previously convicted of Corruption of a Minor of a Sexual Nature in Pennsylvania in 2010.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K. Mattingly, who is handling the case, said that the defendant’s actions were ‘appalling’ and that he ‘obtained and traded videos and images of child pornography over the internet.’
Mount’s sentencing is scheduled for February 5, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. before Judge Arcara. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
