ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Segundo Juan Maynato-Guaman, a 46-year-old citizen of Ecuador, has pleaded guilty to re-entry of a removed alien, marking the culmination of a gritty legal battle in federal court. The man known by two aliases faced U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr., for his transgression, ultimately being sentenced to time served and handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani, the pivotal moment occurred on June 25, 2025, when Border Patrol Agents at a Rochester traffic stop detained Maynato-Guaman for presenting false identification. His admission of illegal presence in the United States was confirmed through a records check that revealed his removal from the country in December 2009.
This case is another blow to Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling transnational criminal organizations. The successful plea and sentencing are the result of an investigation led by U.S. Border Patrol under the direction of Patrol Agent-in-Charge Juan Ramirez, Jr.
