New Orleans Man Sentenced for Cocaine Base Distribution

A 25-year-old New Orleans man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for distributing cocaine base, a highly addictive and potent form of the drug.

Edward McMillan pleaded guilty to the charges in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1) and 846(b)(1)(C) and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jane T. Milazzo on April 17, 2024. He will also serve 3 years of supervised release and pay a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together law enforcement and the communities they serve.

On February 9, 2022, McMillan sold cocaine base to a confidential informant for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in Metairie, La.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Berman of the Violent Crime Unit.
