Philadelphia Man Violates Supervised Release, Sentenced to 21 Months in Prison

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – In a disturbing case of recidivism, Edward Montgomery, also known as “One-Eye Eddie,” a 35-year-old resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison followed by 39 months of supervised release for violating the terms of a previously imposed term of supervised release.

On July 20, 2009, Montgomery was sentenced to 60 months in prison followed by 4 years of supervised release by the Honorable Christopher C. Connor of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania for trafficking crack cocaine in Lewiston, Pennsylvania. Montgomery was released from federal prison on August 3, 2012.

Just three weeks after his release, Montgomery fired into a group of young men sitting on the steps of a vacant house in the 1200 block of North Hollywood Street in Philadelphia. This brazen act of violence left two people injured, and one of the victims had a pending drug trafficking case in state court. Montgomery’s actions also triggered a notice from his federal probation officer, indicating that this conduct violated the terms of his supervised release.

The investigation into this case was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. Livermore led the prosecution of this case.
