Bryan Fernando Guillen, Alien Smuggling, Texas 2023

⏱ 2 min read

In a shocking crackdown, federal prosecutors in the Western District of Texas filed 215 new immigration and immigration-related criminal cases from May 1 to May 7. The charges targeted human smugglers and illegal aliens with past convictions for numerous DWIs, violent crime, drug trafficking, theft, and multiple prior removals. One notable case involved Bryan Fernando Guillen, a US citizen, who was charged with alien smuggling after dropping off an illegal alien at a stash house in El Paso on May 4.

According to a criminal complaint, Guillen was the driver of a Mercedes-Benz that had been under investigation and was seen in a TikTok video associated with alien smuggling. US Border Patrol agents pursued the vehicle, which failed to yield to their emergency lights and continued driving recklessly at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was found abandoned at the Ysleta Port of Entry, and Guillen and a passenger were arrested as they attempted to run into Mexico.

The stash house operation in El Paso also resulted in the arrests of Bryan Adrian Flores-Martinez and Hector Emigdio Navarro-Olivas. A criminal complaint alleges that US Border Patrol agents observed a red pickup truck traveling from the residence to an area near Asarco, where fresh, wet, muddy footprints from six individuals were found. The truck returned to the residence and dropped off six illegal aliens before departing.

The cases highlight the ongoing efforts of federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies to combat human smuggling and immigration-related crimes in the Western District of Texas. The charges bring the total number of new federal immigration cases to 215, with many more expected to follow.
