MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Pedro Eligio-Salinas, a 44-year-old Mexican national unlawfully present in Oklahoma, has been sentenced to six months in prison for Unlawful Reentry of Removed Alien. The sentence is part of the government’s aggressive stance against illegal immigration under Operation Take Back America.
Eligio-Salinas was found in the United States on March 27, 2025, having been previously removed in 2011 without obtaining express consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission. The charge stemmed from an investigation by U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge on April 14, 2025, marking a swift resolution in the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dak T. Cohen and Jonathan E. Soverly represented the United States during the hearing.
Judge John F. Heil, III, of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the sentencing hearing. Eligio-Salinas will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative, is designed to repel illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, while protecting communities from violent crime. The effort includes resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
This sentence serves as a stark reminder of the government’s commitment to cracking down on illegal immigration and maintaining public safety.
