Elliot Johnson, Possession of Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking Crime, District of Columbia 2023

WASHINGTON DC – Elliot Johnson, a 43-year-old resident of Washington DC, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in United States District Court on May 5, 2023.

According to court documents, the long-term investigation led by the FBI and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in 2021 targeted violent crime and drug trafficking activities in the area of 7th Street and O Street in Northwest, Washington, DC.

The investigation revealed that Johnson and his co-conspirators gathered in this area to sell controlled substances. Law enforcement identified several residences used for storing drugs and processing/packaging drugs for resale.

Undercover officers purchased crack cocaine and fentanyl from members of the group, with quantities ranging from one gram to over 28 grams at a time. The total amount of cocaine base sold to law enforcement was approximately 158 grams, while the total amount of fentanyl sold was approximately 470 grams. Four firearms were also seized during the investigation.

Johnson’s guilty plea marks the 15th defendant to enter a guilty plea in connection with this series of indictments. The following defendants have also entered guilty pleas:

* Andre Williams, 33, Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl and Crack Cocaine, March 22, 2023, scheduled for July 7, 2023

* Ako Handy, 50, Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine and possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, April 11, 2023, sentenced to 5 years in prison on April 11, 2023

* Keith Gliss, 37, Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime and Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine, May 4, 2023, TBD

* Stanley Hood, 27, Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine, January 12, 2023, scheduled for May 24, 2023

* Thomas Shelton, 26, Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine and Fentanyl, January 10, 2023, sentenced to 2 years in prison on April 10, 2023
