A Hardin man has admitted to a heinous crime, leaving a woman traumatized and seeking justice. Elmer Burpee Yarlott II, 65, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse, a charge that carries severe penalties.
According to court documents, the crime occurred on November 19, 2019, in Hardin, Montana. Yarlott approached the victim at a casino and offered her a dollar to leave with him and his friend. The victim, after midnight, left with Yarlott and his friend, and they drove to the Crow Indian Reservation. Yarlott dropped off his friend, and then drove with the victim to a remote area on the reservation to drink alcohol and use methamphetamine.
The victim declined Yarlott’s repeated requests for sex, but he threatened to kill her and then raped her.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Suek is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the FBI. The case is a stark reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
Yarlott faces a maximum of life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to a lifetime of supervised release. He was detained pending further proceedings, with a sentencing date to be set.
