Omaha Woman Sentenced in Fentanyl Conspiracy

In a blow to the city’s illicit narcotics trade, Emily Clayton, 41, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 84 months in prison for her role in a fentanyl conspiracy.

According to court documents, Clayton was involved in a conspiracy with Daniel Lacy and Taft Burtton to distribute fentanyl analogue in the Omaha area from February 2022 to February 2023.

On February 15, 2023, a search warrant was executed on Clayton’s residence, where law enforcement found numerous items of drug paraphernalia and distribution equipment. In a subsequent Crimestoppers tip, authorities seized 40 grams of fentanyl, a scale, and $2,080.00 in cash from the same residence on February 24, 2023.

Clayton’s co-conspirators, Daniel Lacy and Taft Burtton, received similar sentences. Burtton was sentenced to 120 months in prison on January 3, 2025, while Lacy received the same sentence on January 30, 2025.

Clayton, who was sentenced on January 30, 2025, will also forfeit $2,080.00 in United States currency as drug proceeds. Following her release from prison, she will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.

This case was primarily investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Clayton, whose exact criminal charges are conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of fentanyl analogue, was found guilty of her crimes in the federal court in Omaha, Nebraska.
