Djimon Dapree Johnson, Fentanyl Trafficking and Firearms Possession, New York 2023

ERIE, Pa. – In a gritty turn of justice, former Erie resident Djimon Dapree Johnson, 27, faced the music in federal court, being sentenced to a harsh 72-month stretch behind bars for his heinous crime of fentanyl trafficking and possession of stolen firearms.

The judge’s gavel came down on July 24, 2025, with United States District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter imposing the sentence on Johnson. According to the grim details presented in court, Johnson was caught red-handed on October 20, 2021, with a chilling 382.61 grams of fentanyl intended for distribution. His bloodthirsty crime didn’t end there; he also had two stolen firearms and a 50-round 9mm drum magazine, all as a convicted felon.

Johnson was already serving time for violating his parole for an unlicensed firearm conviction, but the judge ordered his federal sentence to be served consecutively. Assistant United States Attorney Molly W. Anglin led the government’s prosecution in this case, ensuring justice was served without fail.

The Acting United States Attorney, Troy Rivetti, took a moment to commend the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Pennsylvania State Police for their relentless investigation that led to Johnson’s capture and conviction. The gritty streets of Erie have one less criminal to fear as Johnson’s sentence is set to keep him behind bars for years to come.

With this sentencing, the federal court sends a stark reminder that the trafficking of deadly drugs and possession of stolen firearms will not be tolerated. The grimy streets of Erie may be safer thanks to the efforts of those who fought hard to bring Johnson to justice.
