Ex-Cop Charged with Sex Abuse of 4 Women
A former Gasconade County law enforcement officer has been indicted on multiple civil rights charges, accused of sexually abusing several women during his tenure in various departments.
Marty L. Rainey, a triple-commissioned officer who worked for the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office, the Hermann Police Department, and the Rosebud Police Department, allegedly committed acts of aggravated sexual abuse involving four women between June 2010 and March 2012.
The indictment also alleges that on August 31, 2012, Rainey enticed a minor under the age of 18 to engage in prostitution.
Rainey, of Sullivan, MO, was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury on four felony counts of deprivation of rights under the color of law and one felony count of enticement of a minor to engage in commercial sex acts.
If convicted, the charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.
Rainey is expected to appear in federal court in St. Louis later this morning for his initial appearance. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with the cooperation of the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office.
As is always the case, charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.
