ALEXANDRIA, Va. – In a shocking turn of events at the United States Postal Service (USPS), Lolita Brickhouse, 31, from Falls Church, Virginia, has pleaded guilty to causing damage to property of the United States, totaling over $42,000.
Court documents reveal that on January 16th, after completing her shift as a mail carrier, Brickhouse embarked on a spree of destruction. She accused fellow USPS employees and supervisors of theft, leading to a violent confrontation where she knocked over items and insulted her superiors.
But this was just the prelude. Without authorization, Brickhouse seized vehicle keys and rammed an USPS vehicle into another with such force that it collided with a third, causing substantial damage. Exiting the vehicle, she shattered a driver-side window using a metal water bottle, totaling the second USPS vehicle in the process.
Brickhouse’s actions did not end there. She faces up to 10 years in prison on charges related to her behavior and destruction of federal property. Sentencing is scheduled for October 16th, with any final sentence determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Erik S. Siebert, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Damon E. Wood, Inspector in Charge of the Washington Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, announced the plea after it was accepted by U.S. District Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jake Drucker is handling the prosecution.
