A Cambria County man has admitted to lying on a firearm purchase form, leaving his honesty in shambles. Jesse Edward Lester, 36, of Sidman, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to a charge of false statement to a federally licensed firearms dealer in federal court.
According to prosecutors, Lester knowingly made a false statement on September 10, 2016, when he purchased a firearm at Sporting Goods Discounters, a federally licensed firearms dealer. He claimed to be the actual buyer, when in fact, he was purchasing the firearm on behalf of someone else.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency conducted the investigation that led to Lester‘s prosecution. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is handling the case on behalf of the government.
Under the federal sentencing guidelines, Lester faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. His sentencing is scheduled for October 23, 2018, at 1:30 p.m.
