Mahad Ibrahim, Wire Fraud, Minnesota 2024

MINNEAPOLIS – The Feeding Our Future fraud scheme has claimed three more scalps as Mahad Ibrahim, Hamdi Hussein Omar, and Hibo Salah Daar pleaded guilty to their roles in the scam. According to Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson, over 50 convictions have been secured in this sprawling case. “This milestone is an extraordinary achievement by our team and law enforcement partners,” Thompson stated. “Their pursuit of justice has exposed a fraud crisis swamping Minnesota.”

Ibrahim, 46, pleaded guilty for defrauding the federal child nutrition program through his foundation, ThinkTechAct, which he founded and operated as its President. Despite knowing the extent of his conspirators’ activities, Ibrahim allowed his organization to be used in the scheme and was compensated handsomely, including purchases of real estate. He faces one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.

At 29, Omar is charged with wire fraud for her part in creating a fake food distribution site in Waite Park, Minnesota. She falsely claimed to serve thousands of meals daily from the site, leading to a $1.4 million taxpayer loss. Omar also created Feeding Our Youth as a cover for their fraudulent activities.

Hibo Salah Daar, 51, operated Northside Wellness Center Corporation and enrolled it in the federal child nutrition program under false pretenses. She is accused of participating in the scheme through her entity, contributing to the overall fraud crisis. The case underscores the FBI’s commitment to holding accountable those who misuse funds intended for underprivileged children.

“The FBI takes immense pride in its pivotal role in securing these convictions,” said Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. “Taxpayers are entitled to assurance that their contributions will be used responsibly.” The relentless pursuit of justice continues as the investigation into the Feeding Our Future scheme unfolds.
